Sir,
With reference to the second paragraph of 2 your despatch No.404 of 4th October, 1937, regarding
the wording of the new sub-section 8 of section 4A
of the Printers and Publishers Ordinance, 1927, I have
the honour to inform you that your comments have been
brought to the notice of the Attorney General and that
arrangements have been made to omit the unnecessary
words in the revised edition of the Ordinances of Hong
Kong which is now in preparation.
2. As regards the final paragraph of your
despatch under reference it is assumed that the
Registrar of Newspapers will exercise his discretion
and allow any newspaper which is called upon to make
a deposit a reasonable time in which to find the money
before he suspends its registration.
